THE I-LOVE-THIS-SEASON
Dean doesn't remember wrenching himself away from the side of the Impala. He doesn't remember trying to stand up and failing, crawling over to the spot where everything was normal except for four freezeburnt rings cooling in the grass. He waited for it to open again, for a voice to rise out of it and say, "Sorry, I forgot you. Come on," and he would fall in after it. But nothing like that happened. Nothing happened at all [...] and the only thing that was real, the only thing that moved for a very long time, was the water from the sweat dripping down his back. If he waited long enough, his heart would stop. Revelation 9:6 And in those days men shall seek death, and Shall not find it; and shall desire to die, and death shall flee from them. 5.22 |
So this is where you are
Disclaimer: I don't own them. The CW and Kripke do.
fandom: supernatural
focus: gen, ruby, sam, sam's self-loathing lol
summary: Either pre- or during season four. Ruby can't afford for Sam to get better. Her needs require him to suffer.
He wants to die where nobody can see him
He wants to die in a lake in Geneva, where mountains can cover the
shape of his nose

When they were done, Sam sat on the side of the bed, not moving an inch to wipe her blood off his face.
Ruby chided, contorting her own into appropriate regret, compassion. She'd seen him do it so often, but it remained difficult every time. Much like this. Remembering her needs from Sam's needs. Her needs required him to suffer. Sink further into this wretchedness, docile and graceless.
She wiped his mouth with a motel cloth, but at any more than that he pushed past her comforting hands for his pill bottle on the nightstand. After kicking back the glass of water she held out for him, he stared at the floor between his legs.
Then again, maybe their needs weren't so different after all.

But who's to say it's wrong
And who's to say that it's not right
Where we should be for now
