Naruto (thinking): I stubbornly lied to myself, but the truth is...I've...always...looked up to you. And when you finally acknowledged me ("I want to fight you too Naruto"), that was the happiest I've ever been.

Seriously people dig at Sasuke and Neji for having big egos, but Naruto's got a pretty selfish sense of pride himself. These statements that are so deep and powerful, how much of that was even SAID to Sasuke? None, because deep down Naruto is conflicted about saying it too late, and never saying it at all. Some of it he feels is his fault, because he starts to realize how friendship is a two-way street and made of more than conversion speeches and saving-your-life situations. It's the every day, boring moments he didn't take advantage of to tell Sasuke he WAS liked for who he was. And Naruto, who never concedes being inferior to ANYONE, ....actually did for Sasuke, because he wanted Sasuke to be his brother so badly.

Some fandom members don't know why Naruto is investing so much into Sasuke. The only way you could get a straight, emotional, honest answer out of him, would be to tie Naruto to a chair. And even then you'll probably get a response that darts around the bush, because this kid also has pride and ego and emotional distance issues. And is really fsked up. <strike>and OMG I'd totally jump him in half the scenes he's in he's so adorable</strike>

I really feel bad for this guy sometimes. He saves and saves and saves people, and he wakes up the next day and the world keeps on being stupid. Anyone else would just give up, just roll over and admit it's all too much for one person to do--to be the one everyone is investing their future in.

It's true that you'll never get a straight answer out of Naruto. He'll hide behind those smiles and the "I'm the next Hokage!" statements. In some sense, he's probably as reclusive as Sasuke.

Maybe next we'll see some Tobi and Naruto action. Can't wait till next Friday...

In the manga picture that goes along with the Maroon5 song I read it as "Sasuke, you said you're tying to sever bonds... Then why didn't you call me back then?!" LOL Slight difference in meaning there. :3
