Title: Anywhere But Here
Summary: Sakura doesn't make ANBU, and wants to talk to Naruto. About Feelings. But sorry fangirls, Sasuke and Naruto are never gonna spout poetry about it. Plot What Plot. 300 words.

Originally I posted it into sasuxnaru, but it grew on me (and got like, a ton of comments, which always make me go ":DDDD") and I moved the post here so it'll be with me always. <3 I'm weird. I bond with my fics. *headslap*

“Did YOU make it into ANBU?” She hissed.

Naruto swallowed, refusing to say anything, and that said it all.

"Oh God." Sakura wailed. "I'm such a loser! I got disqualified for ANBU because my MOTHER showed up to the disclosed location! Because she read it in my DIARY. I haven't written in it since I was thirteen, I get drunk ONCE and scribble crap and she shows up to cheer me on and--oooohhh I hate my life!"

"It's not so bad Sakura-chan," Naruto tried, as delicately as a rhino in a china shop. He sucked so bad at this...

“Yes it is! I'm a failure with the most embarrassing mother, I can't do anything right, I feel so fat and bloated and I’M ON MY PERIOD AND I HATE EVERYONE!”

”…” Naruto turned and tried to stealthily escape by running away.

“Coward!” She snapped at him, dragging him down by the collar, “Stay here and talk to me like a man!”

“I’d rather go against Pein again thanks,” Naruto whimpered fearfully. And Itachi. And Kyuubi. And Sasuke during a bitch fit when he left the toilet seat up. Anything!

"Don't you and Sasuke-kun talk about your feelings?"

Naruto looked at her weirdly. "No. Never."

Sakura gave him a flat look. "You two are both retards."

"Hello~: he ran off with a man who had neon signs for child rapist; intelligence emotional or otherwise is clearly not what attracts me to him."

"So how does that make you feel...?"

"Oh God!" He clawed at the sand to get away, while Sakura's eyes glinted madly.

"You're not escaping Fox Boy, Ino's away and I want a girl talk NOW."

Naruto whimpered.

"Think of it as Hokage training, distracting me from my pain! Tell me exactly how you and Sasuke-kun feel about each other!"

"Dammit, no! I blow shit up, I walk on water, I bring people back from the dead, I convert sinning bastards, I give cheerleading speeches and file paperwork--WHAT DO YOU PEOPLE WANT FROM ME?!"

A/N: What happened to Sakura and her mom would totally happen to me. No really. *hides in hands* Ughhhh....

Very nice! Loved how you captured their voices so well.

I always liked post time skip Sakura better then pre-time skip.

I had a hate-love relationship with Sakura a lot preTS, mostly because I couldn't understand her inability to make a decision on who she wanted to be. Did she want to be the damsel in distress to be saved by Sasuke or a ninja? You can't have both. I always liked her away from Sasuke, because she was so much more like how I write her: sardonic, passionate to the point it -is- a strength, and actually quite funny.

My favorite pre-time skip Sakura moment was in the chuunin exam. During the Forest of Death part. She showed us a glimpse of that inner strength she contains. Once she freed herself from Sasuke, she became a much better character. Her crush on him faded into something else and to be honest, became more. She no longer chases after him, hoping to win his affections. Current Sakura is far more interesting to write too.

This is my favorite Sakura icon. No longer is she a useless crybaby. (Though, I'm a complete sucker for the less used characters like Genma, Raidou, Hayate, Iruka, etc. XD; Main characters constantly get the glory when the others are shoved into the background. )

Oh man, that icon is awesome. My photobucket account has a special folder for her, I love her, I love how as the "weakness" archtype Kishimoto started her with how she's -grown- from it outside of Sasuke. Yup, FOD was a special moment for me, how she refused to leave not just Sasuke, but also Naruto, she grew in my eyes then too. And when Naruto's dream to be Hokage was more important in Ibiki's exam than Sasuke being able to smoothly advance to catch up to his brother. And finally, when she screamed at Naruto she'd save "Sasuke" for him. The manga doesn't have the "-kun" part in it--suddenly nothing mattered to her than keeping her teammate safe, and later, the same with Sai.

Sorry I'm fangirling. I just love finding people who like her as much as I do. <3

I love that icon. Have lots of Sakura icons. Made a bunch too; most of which are at my graphic journal. The three best things that ever happened to Sakura: 1. being placed on a team with Sasuke and Naruto under Kakashi. 2. Training under Tsunade. 3. Learning that she has to really want something in order to achieve it.

She had to learn to stand on her own two feet and Tsunade was the one with the best chance of showing her how. I absolutely love the fact she became so kick-ass.

My friend and I roleplay the Naruto characters often. Her version of Sakura is very much the time-skip Sakura. She never went through that whole whiny, crybaby stage though. (I'm a huge fan of kick-ass females.) In one of my Naruto fics, she's going to be very whiny for a bit. Until she realizes she has to grow up or be left behind.

Yes, a very common lesson for the most normal person in the series (at first I thought it was Ten Ten, but then I realized if you can stand to have Gai as your sensei, Neji the emotional constipate, and...Lee...as teammated, and still be normal there IS something wrong with you, xD)

XD Compared to her teammates, Tenten is pretty normal. So is Temari. Huh. Three of the most kick-ass Naruto female characters have names that start with T. Hmm. Sakura being considered normal isn't much considering that she was teamed with Sasuke stick-up-my-ass Uchihia, Naruto ramen-ramen-ramen Uzumaki and student to Kakashi let's-see-how-late-I-can-be-today Hatake.

The Bar for Normal isn't set very high is it?

TenTen: Do not desire to bleed your cousin to death/have creepy eyebrows/turn every youth sentence into a drug-fairy trip

Temari: Do not desire to kill everyone you say hello to or talk to your puppets

Sakura: Don't desire to kill your brother, don't be conflicted on whether you want to kill your best friend ~~or do him~~ or not, don't have a temper tantrums that result in village slaughters, and don't save the I Don't Hate You moment for when your teammate is crushed by a boulder he only has one good eye left.

Did I cover everything? xD I'm sensing a theme with the killing thing.

XD Yea, I think you covered everything. *laughs* Well, Naruto wouldn't be as interesting if everyone was normal. Because then everyone and their mother would be sane.

My theory: all ninja are absolutely completely bonkers the higher their rank. Just look at Gai and Kakashi. Prime examples.

God, if I were forced to quote all the lines I love in this fic, I'd have to copy and paste the whole thing. This is brilliance in itself, the humor is delicious and put a smile on my face. In fact, rereading this made me howl with laughter and that really doesn't happen often. Your Sakura is a lot of fun: she's sarcastic, dominating and a bit volatile (but which girl doesn't feel fat, bloated and bitchy during her period?).

I love the image you've created of Sasuke having a bitch fit. Strangely, I can imagine him to be the type for it.

Please continue writing those ficlets of yours because they are fantastic. Don't hate me for having missed this piece before. Anyway, to read this after a stressful day at university was a treat. Thank you so much for sharing.

Sasuke is all hands-on-his-hips with a beady stare and a frying pan to whack Naruto upside the head. I'm telling you he's a housewife, a lazy one but a housewife nonetheless. Down the road when Sasuke's a little better mentally, I see them being creepily domestic: sleeping all day in the winter because they hate the cold, Naruto replacing Sasuke's anti-depressants with Viagra...

I wrote this BECAUSE of a stressful day at university. God, sometimes I just want to treck back home and work in the restaurant again, or bum myself off in D.C. running doughnuts again and writing fiction in my downtime all day. I mean...seriously. *headdesk* What -do- these people want from us sometimes?

I kinda feel sorry for Sakura; to be disqualified because of such reason... ouch :/

I know. D; The inspiration came from I nightmare I had before my humongous math exam; the teachers said I couldn't take it because my mom showed up and could have like...helped me cheat or something (in reality this is extremely unlikely, my mother couldn't divide two digit numbers without a calculator unless it was a shoe sale, God bless her), and I was all NOOOO! and then I woke up. So...since Sakura's life is made of bad timing (that poor girl) I inserted it here. ;)

I think I could remember having such strange dreams as well ^^; The most funny part they seem so real and logical when you are dreaming, but you find them rather silly after you've woken up.
